5 Tips to Create a Cozier Bedroom

As a child, one of the best days ever was a snow day. Think about it. You’d wake up early and find out you can crawl right back into bed. As an adult, weekends and holidays are a chance to replicate that feeling. Is your space prepared for you to spend the entire day there? Read on for 5 tips to create a cozier bedroom.

Think Thread Count

Paying attention to the thread count of your sheets is worth the effort. In HGTV’s Guide to Buying Sheets, they explain how a higher thread count leads to softer sheets. Start at a count of 200 and adjust to your comfort level. You’ll be cuddled up before you can even say, “Snug as a bug in a rug.”

Sleep Past Sunrise

Has the sun ever woken you up before your alarm clock even had a chance? If so, you might be missing a crucial element to your windows – quality curtains. Thicker curtains give you the ability to block out sunlight and cold air at the same time. Make the investment for extra sleep and additional warmth.

Obey the Feng Shui

Originating in China, feng shui uses energy to synchronize people with their surroundings. If you’re already feeling intimidated, don’t be! There are simple ways to incorporate feng shui in your home. Start by decluttering and then find what affects energy can have on your bedroom.

Add a Splash of Color

Color can be directly related to our emotions and feelings. Specifically, a cool color like blue can provide a calming effect. You can associate colors with seasons as well. Try using blues and grays for winter, pinks and yellows for spring, purples and greens in the summer, and oranges and reds in the fall.

Make It Intimate

Privacy is essential to any bedroom. Setting up a canopy around your bed could be your next project when you really want to get lost in your own snuggly world. Get creative with it and use what’s available for a “do it yourself” touch.

With these tips in mind, change your mindset from “I have to go to bed” to “I get to go to bed” tonight. How cozy is your bedroom now? Which tips will you use? Let us know in the comments below!
